Here’s what the name-entering screen for Meteors currently looks like. When you enter your three-character name in true arcade machine style, your name and score is added to the top 100 scores if it’s high enough. What happens in the background is a highscores file is updated so that your score is remembered after the game quits. Simple stuff really.
Handling all the high scores stuff is one of the last things I need to do to finish Meteors. The next step will be to create NES-era sound effects for the game, and music too. I’m currently thinking I’ll use songs from this 8-bit version of OK Computer because Radiohead.
